WE GATHER FOR OUR ANCESTORS

The Gabrielino/Tongva Indians of California are the indigenous people of the entire Los Angeles Basin. California's indigenous population is incredibly diverse and Anaheim is no exception. In addition to the Gabrielino/Tongva, Anaheim is the home to many residents  proud to represent the Juaneño/Acjachemen, Luiseño, Aztec, Nahuas, Maya, Mixtec, and more. All are welcome on this day of celebration and reflection.

HOTUUKNGA

The Gabrielino/Tongva Indians of California are the indigenous people of the entire Los Angeles Basin. Prior to colonization, an area of Anaheim along the Santa Ana River was known as Hotuuknga, a village in Tovaangar, a nation which extended throughout the LA Basin and included the entire territory of present-day Anaheim.
